CASINOS IN NEVADA
The state of Nevada is the gambling capital of the United States, if not the gambling capital of the world. Gambling opportunities are found throughout the state. In fact, when you land at the airport, there are slot machines just waiting for you to make your first official bet of your gambling vacation before you make it to a dedicated casino.
Las Vegas, Nevada is in a constant state of casino construction flux. Older buildings are continually torn down and replaced with ever more expansive and more expensive substitutes. The choices are endless - and that is not really an exaggeration. If you decided to visit every casino in Nevada at the rate of one a day, you would need more than six months to see them all! Certainly, by the time you worked your way through the list, one you had visited would be gone and another one would have opened.
WHICH TO INCLUDE
Writing about casinos in Nevada is actually difficult task because the list is too lengthy. One doesn't know which to include and which to exclude. The best that can be expected in this short space is to choose represenative casinos based on the atmosphere, location, and budget range that a traveller desires.
TRIBAL GAMING IN NEVADA
In some entire states, the only gambling complexes available are located on Native American reservations. Interestingly, out of the one hundred and seventy-five or so casinos in Nevada, only two are located on Indian-owned lands. They are the Moapa Band Tribal Casino in Moapa and the Avi Resort & Casino in Laughlin.
GO FOR THE NOSTALGIA
Some of the oldest and therefore 'landmark casinos" are located in downtown Las Vegas. No trip to Nevada would be complete without at least a day or an evening spent in this area. Some casinos to see there are Lady Luck Casino Hotel, Fremont Hotel & Casino, Golden Nugget, Four Queens Resort & Casino, and the Golden Nugget.
LUXURY CASINO COMPLEXES
If you win a big jackpot or you just want to experience a vacation and live you one a jackpot, Las Vegas can accomdate your every whim and desire. Ultra-luxurious casino properties include the Bellagio, the Wynn, Mandalay Bay/ I've seen the prices for high-end rooms in these locations and they are not cheap. I don't know the prices for their presidential suites, but I am sure they would scare the wits out of me and most of my fellow travellers.
FAMILY CASINOS & THEMED CASINOS
It's funny to mention Nevada gambling and family themes in the same section, but Las Vegas has done an amazing job of truly appealing to everyone. Families are welcomed and in fact, atered to at many locations. Popular family destinations in Las Vegas include the Circus Circus because of its obvious circus theme (the largest clown you will ever see in your life is atatched to the buidling) and its awesome indoor amusement park under the big dome as well as the Excalibur for its medieval / fairytale theme and its castle design. Kids would also enjoy the aquarium in Mandaly Bay and the rides that sit atop the Stratosphere.
